Ottawa campus blooms after Neosho building move
Neosho County Community College's Ottawa campus enrollment rose over 10 percent this year to about 850 to 900 students since moving into a new facility at 900 E. Logan St. in mid March 2011. Tony Brown, coordinator of the Teaching and Learning Center, says the modern center aims to be inviting and functional with tutoring, placement testing, computer access, and study spaces for hundreds daily. Brown, a former Baker University professor and ex Kansas legislator, emphasizes student success and outreach, including helping a struggling student with deadlines, while noting funding shortfalls for public and higher education and the center as a model for other libraries.
