Advocates pressed tax hikes to end in-home service waits
About 80 disabled citizens gathered in the Kansas Statehouse calling on lawmakers to restore funds cut last fall that limit home and community based services. They say 2,770 people waited in February, some forced into costly nursing home care, and seek at least 101 million more dollars in funding via a new Big Tent Coalition to remove waiting lists.

The panel cited tight revenues and cash shortages as reasons for minimal changes and noted health insurance and personnel costs at Board of Regents institutions.
