A 15-year-old Ottawa girl who admitted stabbing her father Wednesday night was released from jail with no charges filed. She was placed in another home pending full investigation. The father was not seriously hurt after the family argument.

George Clifton Rhine 73 a former Baldwin resident died yesterday at Lawrence hospital after a brief illness. He lived in Lawrence about 15 years and was a laborer and former farmer. Survived by nine children including Phyllis Rebarcheck and Marion Snodgrass and several Rhine relatives, 20 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. Funeral at Lamb Funeral Home Baldwin Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial in Oak Wood cemetery.
CHICAGO Nine teenage youths were sentenced for the gang war shotgun slaying of a 17 year old boy. Clement Cookie Macis, 15, received 16 years in prison as the murder convict. The other eight youth pleas of guilty to involuntary manslaughter earned sentences from 1 to 5 years up to 4 to 14 years. Five more teenagers who turned state's evidence face sentencing later.
The House Appropriations Committee advanced a larger Interior Department appropriation, recommending 15 million dollars for national park construction, surpassing Eisenhower's request. The panel cited rising visitor numbers to 54 million next year and a growing park system workload, plus a 470 thousand dollar boost for Forest Service campground care and sanitation programs.
