Low Turnout Dooms K-State Field House Referendum
Kansas State University referendum to fund a new fieldhouse failed after turnout fell short of 5,000 required voters. The tally was 2,063 for and 1,488 against, despite majority support. If approved, the plan would have raised student fees by $5 in 1979 to help cover about $3 million of an estimated $8 to $12 million project, needing university and state board consent.
