Goebel wins bronze as pairs judging controversy lingers
Tim Goebel, 21, earned a bronze in his first Olympics amid ongoing judging debates that still cloud figure skating. He landed a quad jump three times, a feat unmatched at Olympics, while Alexei Yagudin won gold with four perfect 6.0s. IOC and ISU officials debated possible twin golds and an independent probe, with no rapid ruling. The U S leads the medals tally among nations with 11 at the Salt Lake Games.
