Love that lasts Ottawa couple marks 55 years
Keith and Betty Sue Shumway recall nearly six decades of marriage built on communication and respect. They met in 1944 during Keiths violin lessons and married in 1948 while he served in the Navy. The Ottawa couple raised four children, have 11 grandchildren, and faced events from ordinary family life to a murder in their Chicago apartment entry. Betty Sue, a former teacher and legislator, and Keith, an ordained minister, continue to support each other through health challenges as they approach their 55th anniversary.
