Edward D. Jones and Company seeks about 1,200 square feet in the front of the building. A second undisclosed business also aims to rent space. Two thirds of new space would go to non governmental tenants, leaving about 12,000 square feet for public rental. The lease runs to February 29, 2000, the same expiry as the rest of the building.

Preborn human bill advances in Kansas Senate panel
A Kansas Senate subcommittee endorsed a bill to criminalize causing a miscarriage during the commission of a felony. The measure, modeled after New Mexico law, would apply to pregnant women and would set a minimum sentence of three years and two months for first offenders. Both sides of the abortion debate supported the bill as it moves to the full Judiciary Committee.
