Other items include warnings, operetta previews at Ottawa High, Baker University Founder’s Day, Douglas county crop acreage, hospital updates, and a traffic accident in the city.
Albert Woolson sole survivor of the Civil War’s Boys in Blue marks his 108th birthday in Duluth with President Eisenhower sending a personal delivery letter. He plans a family dinner and open house, and he jokes about walking again and aging. He also cautions Eisenhower on Formosa and notes he stays home to shovel less snow this year.
Mrs. Dana Ford of 527 S Hickory and Alfred Bronson of Pomona join Charles Baldwin at 1031 N Poplar and James Don Wendorff of Le Loup. Mrs. Dave Moore of 621 S Mulberry and Gary Elliott of Rantoul are admitted today.
Mrs Mary Frances Legg aged 84 died after years of failing health. She lived with her son Agell M Legg in Bedford Pennsylvania. Funeral plans await arrival of the body in Trenton Missouri and Mrs Riddle will attend. Also Calvary Baptist church hosts a youth rally at 7 20 this evening. Over a quarter of the nations 18 to 21 year olds now attend college.
Norman R Briggs 18 of Winfield was killed when his car collided with a truck two miles north of Winfield on U S 77. Kenneth Jackson, truck driver, and Ed Dohleman, passenger, were treated for shock and bruises and released from a hospital.
