Wind erosion tests show sandblasting damages young crops
USDA wind tunnel study by Dean Armbrust at Kansas State finds 2 week old sorghum and 2 week old wheat and soybeans suffer reduced growth, delayed heading and lower yields under 30 to 60 minute sandblasting. Spring and fall treatments cut dry weight and head counts, with photosynthesis decreasing and respiration rising as tissue is damaged.

Potassium Levels in Receiving Rations for Long-Haul Calves
Research by Brazle and McLaren links potassium supplementation to time of year and feed quality. Earlier work suggested 1.3 to 2.2 percent potassium reduces sickness, while newer studies show varying needs by season with spring pastures naturally high in potassium. For spring shipments 1 to 1.25 percent may suffice, while fall shipments may require higher levels.
