Lawmaker proposes year long moratorium on large hog farms
Rep. Susan Wagle proposes a one year moratorium on new hog feeding facilities with 1250 or more hogs in counties that rejected corporate hog operations. The plan offers a 100 percent tax credit for equipment to reduce lagoon leakage and environmental concerns, with debate over taxpayer subsidies and need for science-based study before expanded operation.
