Groundwork for Ottawa school talks begins set for Feb 15
Negotiators for the Ottawa Board of Education and Ottawa teachers trade two non salary proposals for contract talks slated to start at 8 a.m. on Saturday February 15 at the district office. Topics include elementary planning periods classroom size limits and counselor staffing. Names of both sides’ representatives are listed. A follow up session is planned for February 15. In local education news a mail ballot election for bond issuance approval of 525000 for district repairs will be mailed March 6 with ballots due by March 25.

Ottawa City Commission approves nearly $50,000 in change orders
City Manager Lyle Dresher announced almost 50 thousand dollars in change orders on city contracts. A 47,950 increase to wastewater improvements covered 108 feet of 18 inch clay sewer pipe replacement with iron piping. 75 percent of the change is EPA funded.
