Bears legends echo brutal defense era before Super Bowl
Chicago’s famed defense is recalled through voices of Urlacher Buffone and Ditka, tracing the 1985 unit led by Singletary, Wilson, Marshall and Dent. The piece contrasts era-era brutality with today’s tighter rules, noting Halas’s six titles and the franchise’s hard-hitting ethos that shaped NFL defense.
