Lawmakers push property tax break for Kansas seniors

Kansas lawmakers introduced a constitutional amendment aimed at freezing property assessments for seniors 65 and older living in homes valued at 250000 or less. Critics say the plan shifts tax burden to business and younger homeowners and weakens local control. supporters argue it helps seniors on fixed incomes and preserves home stability. The measure faces concerns from city leaders over equity and revenue needs.
