Marquette Buys Tolkien Manuscripts for University Collection
Marquette University acquired Tolkien manuscripts and illustrations for about 4700. The deal includes early drafts of The Lord of the Rings The Hobbit and Mr Bliss plus a projected 11000 pages overall. The purchase followed solicitation by William Ready and Bertram Rota after Tolkien agreed to sell to support retirement finances.
