Compost program eyed by Emporia city officials
Emporia city commissioners study a curbside composting option to augment trash pickup. City Engineer Mike Novak says collecting grass and leaves on Wednesdays could increase landfill capacity by 4.5 percent and proposes a seasonal program from April 1 to Oct 31 with a designated compost area at the landfill.
