Ottawa native Brian Lewis, Ottawa High School graduate and Suzuki Strings alumnus, performed with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios last September. He credits his Ottawa education for guiding him to the historic studio where the Beatles once created world changing music. Lewis balances a global performing schedule with roles at Juilliard in New York, the University of Texas at Austin, and as a symposium director, traveling up to 125,000 miles yearly and often playing impromptu preflight concerts for cabin crews.
Lewis will perform Leonard Bernstein Serenade and other selections with the Kansas City Symphony at the Lyric Theatre in Kansas City on January 7 to 9 and at Yardley Hall on January 9. He grew up listening to that orchestra and calls the piece energetic and beautiful. A documentary, An American in London, about Abbey Road sessions is due in 2006 with another recording session planned.
