Public Defender Sought In Lisa Montgomery Baby Case

In Missouri, Lisa Montgomery, 36, asked for a public defender after her first court appearance in the high profile murder and infant kidnapping case. Prosecutors charge Montgomery with kidnapping resulting in death for allegedly killing eight month pregnant Bobbie Jo Stinnett and severing the baby from her womb during a Dec. 16 attack in Skidmore. Evidence indicates Montgomery faced possible life or death penalty, while custody matters and questions about her mental state were discussed by both defense and prosecution.
