Kansas City Fire Strike Sparks Guard Reinforcement
Kansas City faced a citywide fire and police strain as 200 National Guardsmen joined 700 guardsmen already called in, to aid fire suppression and police duties amid a firefighter slowdown that led to sickouts and mass firings. Authorities sought contempt against 50 firefighters, while a nursing home blaze caused heavy damage without injuries.
