Computers Can Make Farm Accounting Easier
Kansas State University Extension economists announce a computer aided farm record analysis service for Kansas farmers. The program uses input forms to collect receipts expenses inventories and other data and outputs a detailed financial report with net farm income asset values and financial ratios to guide decision making. Follow up county meetings will explain how to use the system and assist data preparation.

Guernsey Cattle Club marks 100 years of breed history
A 100 year recap details the 1877 founding of the American Guernsey Cattle Club by 11 men from five states at the Astor Hotel New York City and the release of the Pillsbury Guernsey on Lake Winnipesaukee. It traces Captain Prince's 1831 Guernsey introduction from Guernsey Island and the breed's development through monk breeding, isolation on Cow Island, and the Isle of Guernsey origins leading to Guernsey milk brands Golden Guernsey Guernsey Royal Gurn-A-Gold and Gurn-A-Skim. The story notes some 13 000 Guernseys imported and the breed becoming America’s second dairy breed while the club preserves lineage and breed purity.
