Rail wreck near Melvern blocks crossing. 30 cars derailed
About 30 of 50 cars on a Santa Fe train derailed three miles east of Melvern around 3 30 am. Several cars exploded starting a fire but no injuries were reported. Wreckage stretched along both tracks and a county road crossing was briefly blocked. Fire crews from Pomona Melvern Waverly and the Ottawa REACT Club fought the blaze but could not approach the wreckage due to risk of further explosions.
