Kansas aviation industry weathers downturn with cautious signs

Kansas light plane makers show life after seven years of sagging sales. Cessna, Beech, and Learjet trim payrolls, backfill positions, and pursue new products while broader market demand and tax relief support a gradual recovery. Secrecy Cue Makers Secret to Billiards Success

Leonard Bludworth, a Houston native living in Atlantic City, repairs cues with a homemade leather tip and “secret juice” that he markets to cue makers. He travels about 70,000 miles yearly for Professional Billiards Association events and is a regular on tour with top players. Bludworth markets textured leather tips and a curing solution, claiming his method yields solid, audible hits and better control. He trains his son Donald in cue repair and notes he is the only full-time cue repairman at tournaments.

Nugent Says He Now Leads Kids Reading Club and Trips

Ted Nugent, once known as the Motor City Madman, says he started a children's reading club and organizes field trips. He notes he was named Father of the Year by his children's school and emphasizes being more than a visitor as a father. He recounts hunting trips with his son, Christmas tree rituals, and planting a family Christmas tree near their redwood farmhouse. He and his wife divorced in 1979 and she died four years later. Nugent launched his career with the Amboy Dukes in 1965, going solo in 1975 with hits like Cat Scratch Fever.
