Intelligence Team Questioning Pueblo Crew After Capture
More than 100 intelligence specialists began questioning the 82 freed Pueblo crewmen in San Diego as part of an exhaustive probe into the ship's loss and what sensitive equipment may have remained. Doctors report malnutrition and no serious physical defects, with psychological testing ongoing. Lt. Edward Murphy Jr. of San Diego described deliberate navigational errors shown to prove doctored evidence by North Koreans. Cmdr. Lloyd Bucher, ill and absent, would have details on the capture. Navy asserts Pueblo was at least 16 nautical miles from North Korean land when seized.
