Grain sorghum best for silage and cattle gains says Kansas State
Kansas State University research shows grain sorghum harvested as whole plant silage provides higher dry matter content and feeding value than forage or non heading sorghums. High grain yields at the dough stage deliver better overall cattle gains with less silage shrink, while wetter silages cause storage losses.
