Recruiting Drive Planned By Guard
Washington AP reports the Army National Guard plans a vigorous recruiting push in the new year to reach 400000, about 25000 short, aiming to counter Secretary McNamara's skepticism. The plan includes restructuring four low priority Guard divisions into brigades, boosting standards, and coordinating with governors on reorganization with a March 31 Reserve deadline. Indications suggest a January meeting with McNamara to discuss the Guard overhaul.
