Motorists Face Slippery Roads After First Winter Storm
Sheriff Rex Bowling warned motorists to slow down as winter weather gripped the area with icy central and eastern conditions. An Ottawa power plant report of freezing rain and snow caused slick roads, an injury crash on I-35 near K-69, and several noninjury mishaps. McMurry sustained a leg fracture and was cited for speeding for the icy conditions. Local crews applied rock salt and ice melt, but wind and traffic limited effectiveness.
