Gov Graves Eyes Double Digit Cuts for KDOT Budget
Kansas Gov. Bill Graves proposes a 1.6 percent general fund cut statewide, with the Department of Transportation facing double digit reductions. The plan follows a $73.4 million shortfall at year end 1999, and Graves says fiscal 2002 looks unlikely to improve. KDOT would lose about $10 million if a 10 percent cut applies to its $100.6 million general fund allotment, while total departmental funding remains near $792 million.
