New Highways Soar In Expenses Across Kansas
Kansas and national highway costs rise sharply as DOT estimates show a nearly 300 percent increase since 1967. In six months Kansas' share hits about 21 percent, with per mile building costs for two lanes up to 1.5 million and four lanes up to 2 million. Labor, fuel, and federal wage mandates push prices higher, while OPEC oil outlook adds uncertainty for future projects.
