Year Of Christ's Birth Debated Again
Biblical scholar Jim Fleming questions the traditional Christmas date and year of Jesus birth arguing Halley's comet may have signaled the Magi and placing birth in 12 B.C. based on a census tablet and Herod's death timeline. He notes Dec 25 1 A.D. was a later scholarly construction and cites Luke and Quirinius governor evidence.
