Sixth Victim Dies in Carlinville Welfare Office Shooting
Eight-year-old Diane Kline died at St. John's Hospital Springfield bringing the toll to six from a Wednesday attack in a Carlinville welfare office. Four adults were killed, including the shooter’s estranged wife, and four Kline children were wounded. Police said Sherman Kline, 39, opened fire with two pistols after a Christmas celebration turned deadly. He died later from a self-inflicted bullet.
