Sentencing delayed in Ottawa DNA case for Corey
Franklin County District Judge Eric W. Godderz postponed Ralph E. Corey's sentencing to 10 a.m. February 5, 2013, to allow prosecutors time to obtain certified copies of two Rhode Island convictions from 1983 and 1991. Corey's defense seeks how those convictions affect his criminal history for sentencing. He was found guilty in October of sexually assaulting a 16 year old Walmart cashier in Ottawa.

Kansas could lose over 40000 jobs in fiscal cliff scenario
Regional Economic Models Inc estimates Kansas may shed up to 40,400 jobs next year if federal tax cuts expire and spending cuts hit defense and other programs. About 35,000 of those losses would be in private sector, with weaker consumer spending and Medicare rates cited as key effects. Kansas’ diversified economy and agriculture might cushion the hit, though GDP could fall by over 2.75 billion dollars. Hawker Beechcraft and other aerospace firms face risk amid potential defense cuts.
