Farm strike gains ground as Bergland vows talks with leaders
Striking farmers, bolstered by Agriculture Secretary Bergland, head into the weekend satisfied with strides toward credibility. In a governors conference call, Bergland promised to meet one strike leader from each state, likely in January, while Sunflower Seminar in Hutchinson urges higher U S production and notes sunflowers as a premium oil source. About 100 attendees from five states, including Kansans, Oklahomans, and visitors from Oregon and Idaho, attended the Kansas Farm Bureau event organized by KAMA.
