Stewart Ends Year As Steelers Receiver But Remains QB Hope

Pittsburgh AP Stewart will stay at quarterback after the 1999 season but briefly moved to receiver this year. Bosnian kicker shines for Salina Central Mustangs

Salina Central coach Marvin Diener praises Berin Lacevic, the Bosnian immigrant to Salina, for a standout 1999 season with 54 extra points and a near-perfect kicking record to help the Mustangs win the Class 5A title. Lacevic, who arrived from Sarajevo at age 11 after his parents were killed in the Bosnian war, credits early guidance from NFL Hall of Famer Jan Stenerud and a supportive foster family, the Wilburs, who helped him settle in Salina. Now seeking college offers, Lacevic remains focused on kicking accuracy and continuing his football path.
