Kansas fills major coaching vacancies at Kansas
Lawrence AP Franklin C Pepper Rodgers named head football coach at the University of Kansas succeeding Jack Mitchell whose contract was terminated. Rodgers 35, will have a four year deal and freedom to choose an eight member staff. Rodgers left UCLA where he backfield coached under Tommy Prothro helping Gary Beban and Mel Farr achieve a 17 3 1 record. He plans a moving quarterback style offense and begins lining up his staff. Rodgers noted the job is a tremendous honor and he aims to field a competitive team next fall.
