West Franklin gym floor shows water damage and mold risk
West Franklin high and middle schools face a decaying auxiliary gym floor after 54 years. Water pockets beneath the rubber surface and mold between sealant and wood threaten integrity. Officials consider options from repair to a new facility, with costs cited at about 5,000 to fix two spots or up to 180,000 for a new building. Board members approve repairs for now but fear future deterioration.
