The Ottawa Middle School eighth graders suffered a 72-24 A game loss to Emporia as the visitors opened 18-0 in the first quarter. Aaron Gumm led OMS with 10 points in the setback, while Ottawa also fell 58-16 in the B game. Ottawa's next game is Monday against Lola before the holiday break.
Wellsville High School Athletic Department hosts Alumni Night on Thursday December 20 with Eayles teams facing Santa Fe Trail. Ottawa High over Iola 63-45 as the Cyclones press and slow Iola. Dieterich led with 13 points, Rotlif 10, four players in double figures. Ottawa improves to 3-2. Iola stalled by turnovers and pressure.
Pomona Indians stunned Uniontown 73 to 62 as four players reached double figures led by Ryan Mitchel with 20 points and 12 rebounds by Fred Acker. Uniontown shot 36 percent to Pomona's 58 percent, Ban Harvey top-scoring with 23 for Uniontown. JV also beat Uniontown 68 to 34 before Christmas vacation.
Uniontown defeated Pomona 48 to 41 as the Eagles earned 33 free throw attempts, converting 20 shots. Pomona hit 5 of 18 from the line, while Angie Flager led Pomona with 19 points and Gilliland paced Uniontown with 21 points at home.
Brian Sheldon led Baldwin with 24 points and 14 rebounds as the Bulldogs defeated Wellsville 47 to 40. Baldwin built a 10-7 lead and extended to 24-16 at halftime, while Wellsville briefly narrowed the gap late in the third quarter. J J Kline paced Wellsville with 15 points, and Wellsville’s Travis Doffey led in rebounds with eight. Baldwin improves to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in league, Wellsville falls to 0-5 and 0-2. The Bulldogs close their pre holiday schedule with the win.
In Three Rivers League action Central Heights dropped a 63 57 decision to Burlington after two extra periods. Kim Ellis led CH with 23 points while Dana Wiederholt added 20. turnovers plagued Heights who finish 1 4 and 0 2 in league play and return Jan 4 hosting Uniontown.
Gretchen Freeland of Eudora scored a game high 19 as Lyndon suffered a cold second quarter allowing the Cardinals to pull away to a 41 27 win Lyndon’s Jennifer Pierce led scoring with 10 and 11 rebounds while Stephanie Shoup added 8 points and Lyndon shot 20 percent from the floor The Tigers drop to 1 4 and host Oskaloosa on Tuesday
