A Kansas plan keeps energy research funds within the state starting next year. Six investor owned electric utilities currently spend over 1 million dollars annually on research, mostly out of state. A state committee proposes three in state projects funded by utilities, though total in state spending will be under 20 percent. The panel awaits EPRI input on Kansas based contractors and project leaders.
