The Ohio delegation to the Electoral College cast all 20 votes for President Bush and Vice President Cheney. Critics led by Jesse Jackson and Cliff Arnebeck sought Supreme Court review of the 2004 results, alleging voting irregularities and possible manipulation though the court did not act before the electors met. Protests occurred nearby as authorities denied a permit for demonstrations on Statehouse grounds.

Kansas Republican electors met at the Statehouse in Topeka and cast a 6-0 vote for President Bush and Vice President Cheney on two ballots. Dennis Jones, chair of the Kansas GOP, called the ballot casting the easiest in years as Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh noted the historic nature of the act.
