Mayi-Mayi use legends to recruit child soldiers in Zaire
In northeastern Zaire rebels known as Mayi-Mayi enlist boys as young as eight, luring them with tales of invincibility and special water. Children march with improvised gear and weapons, singing Mayi-Mayil as older fighters direct from the rear while cannibalism fears spread among government troops.

Global tax cut on computers comes from ITA endorsement
Singapore reports that 28 countries endorsed the Information Technology Agreement backed by President Clinton. The pact will abolish import duties on computers, software, semiconductors and telecom equipment, starting July 1, 1997, through January 1, 2000, promising price cuts on home computers and other high tech products.
