Kansas Responds To Coan Ruling In Big Eight Case
University of Kansas denounces the Big Eight action on Bert Coan as capricious and contrary to American traditions of justice. The school quotes a nine page statement arguing Coan was declared ineligible after Kansas won the football championship, forfeits two games, and handed the title to Missouri. Kansas says it will seek clearer conference rules and a spirit of trust, while maintaining the case is closed after accepting the association's decision. The report cites the airplane trip gift in 1950s as the basis for the proceedings and underscores the university's commitment to due process and athletic excellence.
