Reagan Lights National Christmas Tree at White House
President Reagan and Nancy illuminated the 30 foot Colorado spruce on the Ellipse to start the holiday season and urge Americans to unite as a family and help the persecuted. About 12,500 in attendance heard his speech as Tony Bennett and the Air Force Band performed. Rex the dog accompanied Nancy in a red coat.
