Mechanic warns unsafe plane linked to Newfoundland crash
Randy Stirm, a former ServAir mechanic now with Pacific Southwest Airlines, says the four engine Arrow Air DC-8 he worked on at McChord Base was in poor condition and unsafe. He refused to sign the maintenance log and sought FAA review but no official action followed.

Democrats Still Hold Out Against Republican Tax Bill

If Reagan cannot win 40 to 50 solid votes, the bill risks failing in 1985, while Democrats push a measure drafted by Dan Rostenkowski that would cut rates, curb deductions, and exclude 6 million low income households.
