Ottawa man retires after 36 years with Kansas National Guard
Greg Gilroy of Ottawa retires after 36 years in the Kansas National Guard. A recognition ceremony is set for 1 p.m. Friday at Celebration Hall behind the Ottawa Armory on the Franklin County fairgrounds, with a 5:30 p.m. battalion and regimental dinner and roast. Gilroy, a 1965 Ottawa High School graduate, joined on December 10, 1966 and served in multiple sergeant and operations roles in First Battalion, 127th Field Artillery.
