Kansas Water Case Weak Says Colorado AG Ahead of 1985 Suit
Colorado Attorney General Duane Woodard says Kansas has a weak case over Arkansas River water but will sue Colorado in 1985 to gain more water. He criticizes Kansas claims about 8,000 acre feet depletion and defends Trinidad and Pueblo storage practices as compliant with the compact and state law. He expects about 250,000 dollars to be allocated for legal prep as Kansas funds a defense with engineering data supporting Colorado rights.
