Kansas council backs higher state aid for schools
The Kansas Legislative Council and its education committee favor raising state aid to 40 percent of operating costs next year and to 60 percent soon, to ease property tax loads. The plan would cost about 30 million dollars now or 90 million at 60 percent, likely triggering a tax reform fight with Gov. Docking who opposes new taxes.
