Japan urged to expand domestic economy to aid world dollar
The United States raises rates and buys dollars abroad while Germany boosts domestic spending. Japan has balked at reviving its domestic market, worsening the dollar glut and pressuring the world economy. If Japan acts, it could avert protectionist backlash and stabilize the yen. Non-tariff barriers and complex distribution hinder U.S. exports to Japan, despite the rising yen. A 96th Congress may push protectionism if Japan stalls.

Hospitals Face Kansas Regulation Push From New Cost Commission
In Topeka the Health Care Cost Commission calls for a state level regulator with a five member board and executive director to oversee hospitals. The plan would require uniform accounting, require budget and rate approvals, and charge the new agency’s costs to hospitals, estimated at 300000 to 450000 dollars yearly. Some members dissent, arguing it adds government and expenses.
