County sues for 1997 settlement records in KC court case
The Ander son County Review files a lawsuit against Anderson County and KCAMP to obtain disclosure of a 1997 out of court settlement with George Hall. Hall, of Greeley, sued county officials in a $12 million federal suit later settled. No trial date set. Hall says a release may exist and that he was paid a five figure sum.

Justin L. Notter, 19, of Pratt County, escaped Labette Correctional Conservation Camp Tuesday, stole a pickup, and fled to Burlington before surrendering to an off duty officer. Authorities investigated the escape as Camp construction and a non working heater were cited as factors.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class William D. Hakes, son of Rose M. Harris of Garnett, finished Dynamic Mix '98 aboard USS Saipan during a six month Mediterranean Gulf deployment with Amphibious Squadron Eight. The exercise involved 11 NATO nations, over 60 ships and 170 aircraft across a 10 day program.
