NFO Defends Family Farm at Kansas City Convention
National Farmers Organization president DeVon Woodland warned against corporate takeover of farming saying it would bring exorbitant returns and hurt consumers. He cited projected 1980 farm income decline, rising fuel and interest costs, and fears of foreign land ownership. Woodland endorsed a Iran food boycott and called for collective bargaining as farm groups push for stronger price power. About 6,000 to 8,000 NFO members were expected at the 25th annual convention.

Nations to set first oil import ceilings under IEA plan
Paris AP reports ten industrial nations will join the United States and the European Community in adopting individual ceilings on oil imports for the first time since the energy crisis. IEA meeting expected to formalize ceilings rather than vague targets, with the US pushing the change. The United States pledges no more than 440 million tons annually by 1985, while EU members set varied 1985 ceilings including 143 million tons for West Germany and 1.5 million for Luxembourg.
