Decision Time For Vocational Co op By Four Boards
Ottawa Central Heights Baldwin City and Pomona Williamsburg boards will decide next Monday whether to join a vocational cooperative offering courses not taught at their high schools. A survey shows about 60 percent of students won’t attend college and seek areas like power mechanics agriculture electronics clerical health occupations and drafting. The plan envisions students from all districts attending Ottawa for classes with funding from district mills and possible state aid, subject to voter approval.

John Brown Highway project nears reality in Franklin County
Franklin County officials and area property owners met to review three routes for two miles of John Brown Highway starting at US 59. The plan would remove sharp curves to meet Federal Aid Secondary standards and use federal funds with a 70-30 cost split. The southern route, involving two bridges and possible creek channel changes, was favored for preserving farmland and providing southern access to the highway. Construction is expected to finish about a year after work starts.
