Kansans See Gas Bills Drop Over July to September
Residential customers in Kansas paid about 1.32 dollars less per month for natural gas during July through September than in the prior three months, marking a six month trend of falling prices despite a national rise. Commission spokesman Gary Haden said the decline in averages comes in a survey released by the Kansas Corporation Commission. From the first quarter of 1984 to mid year, the pattern shows continued easing.

Butz Urges Cut in Farm Aid and Market Pricing
Former U.S. Agriculture Secretary Earl Butz, at 75, told Illinois Farm Bureau members that government price supports distort farming and should be cut. He warned of higher deficits, praised lowering price supports to keep grain export competitiveness, and noted some farmers may fail as markets rule. He also criticized Farmers Home Administration lending and urged reliance on market prices.
