Whistleblower Firing Report Spurs Civil Service Reform
Washington AP summary of a congressional report on whistleblowers in government. The study cites cases from 1954 to 1975 including John Coplin at an Agriculture Department station, nurses at Shiprock Indian Health Service Hospital, and Ralph Applegate at the Defense Construction Supply Center. It urges a new Review Board on Improper Government Activities and criticizes Civil Service Commission appeals as slow and untrusted. The report supports stronger protections and responsive government.
